The Link Between the Lay Arm and Religious Order

Servants of the Sacred Heart, Inc. principally serves as a lay arm of support for the work of the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Poor (referred to here as ‘the Sisters”), a Catholic religious order founded in 1885 that operates in 10 countries around the world with a mission to provide assistance wherever they can, including education, a home for the elderly, evangelization, help to the incarcerated and healthcare. We also help wherever we are called and are willing to work with worthwhile causes.

Colombia

Two programs are run by the Sisters

· “La Providencia” Seniors Home (Casa de Ancianos) - Belen, Boyacá, Colombia

· “Hogar Montserrate”, a Refuge for Children; Sisga, Colombia

Nicaragua

A program run by the Sisters

· “Immaculate Conception of Mary School” Tecolostote, San Lorenzo, Nicaragua

Cuba

The lay arm of the Servants directly supports the evangelization and development of a church and community in Cuba, where previously God’s word was rarely heard, if ever

· “Church of Saint Anthony of Padua” - Sibanicu, Camaguey , Cuba

Guatemala

We support various programs run by the Sisters

· “Escuela Parroquial de Santa Cruz” (Holy Cross Parochial School), Barrillas, Huehuetenango

· “Centro Escolar Nuestra Señora de Concepción” (The Conception of Our Lady School), Escuentla

· “Escuela Diocesano de Santa Eulalia” (Diocesan Shool of Saint Eulalia), Santa Eulalia, Huehuetenango

· “Hospital Diocesano” Jacaltenango (run by the Diocese of Jacaltenango)

· “Casa Regional”. Center for all activities in Central America for the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Poor. Guatemala City.
